President - Telangana Jagruthi International Youth Leadership Conference
“Since time immemorial, the Indian way of life has been characterized by the principles of the Bhagavad Gita, which has for long espoused the concept of Sustainable Living. India has been a forerunner to the Sustainable Development Goals that were formally adopted by the United Nations as ‘the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development’. In the last century, Mahatma Gandhi enunciated the concepts of Satyagraha, Swaraj and Sarvodaya-which center on the harmony between Man and Nature. Gandhiji through his practice and philosophy gave an original model of sustainable development to the world. In a time when we look around the world to find viable models of sustainable ways of living, Gandhiji emerges as a person who not only espoused the ethos of sustainability for the modern world but presented a living example of how these values can be integrated into one’s lifestyle.
TJIYLC is a vehicle to convey the Gandhian model of sustainable development to the youth across the world. With a demographic dividend that is perhaps the youngest in the world and a vibrant democracy that accepts all shades of opinions, the TJIYLC has been launched to give voice to the youth of the world. The conference will facilitate youth leaders and young delegates from different countries to come together, discuss, analyze and evaluate the Sustainable Development Goals defined by the United Nations.
Marking the words of our father of the nation, Mahatma Gandhi – ‘You must be the change you want to see in the world’ – This annual youth conference will not only commence the positive change amongst the youth of the world but will also bring forth dynamic young leaders capable of driving the society and nations towards the Sustainable Development Goals.
Society and humanity have always been at the epitome of my life. During the 12 years of dedication to the welfare of Telangana and community development for the people of the region, have always endeavored to serve the nation and the world as a whole. I look forward to TJIYLC as a catalyst of positive change led by the collective energy of the youth leaders from across the globe. I believe that TJIYLC is as Victor Hugo said – ‘An Idea Whose Time Has Come’”
